Iron Ore

Brazilian iron ore, in lump and fine forms, combines high metallic grade, chemical consistency and logistical advantages, making it one of the most reliable raw materials in the global market for sustainable steel and alloy production.

Advantages and characteristics:

  • Average iron content between 62% and 66% Fe, with low levels of impurities (SiO₂, Al₂O₃, P and S), ensuring high yield in blast furnaces and sintering reactors.

  • Controlled particle size according to application: lumps (10–40 mm) for direct charging and fines (<10 mm) ideal for sinter feed or pelletizing.

  • High bulk density (≈2.4–2.6 t/m³), providing efficiency in maritime transport and better cargo utilization.

  • Excellent metallurgical behavior, with high permeability and good reducibility in blast furnaces or direct reduction (DRI) processes.

  • Low residual moisture, facilitating handling, storage and transportation, including in port environments.

  • Strict quality control and traceability from mine to shipment, meeting international standards (ISO, SGS, Bureau Veritas).

  • Stable and continuous supply from large deposits in the Quadrilátero Ferrífero and Carajás regions, with consolidated logistics infrastructure (mine–port–customer).

  • Environmentally responsible product, with mining waste management, rehabilitation of degraded areas and compliance with environmental regulations.

Typical industrial applications:

  • Integrated steel plants (blast furnaces and BOF shops)

  • Sinter feed and pelletizing plants

  • Direct reduction units (Midrex, HYL, etc.)

  • Foundries and steel rolling mills
